Chunghwa Telecom Officially Expands into Europe. Expanding Global Reach Across Three Continents: Europe, America, and Asia

Frankfurt, Germany – August 26, 2024 – Chunghwa Telecom is proud to announce the official launch of its European subsidiary in Frankfurt, Germany, marked by a grand opening ceremony. The event was led by Chunghwa Telecom Chairman & CEO Harrison Kuo and President Ivan Lin, with participation from four Executive Vice Presidents via recorded video. To emphasize the significance of the event, Chunghwa Telecom had European subsidiary Chairman Chia Chung-Yung, and International Business Group President Richard Chen, personally attend and preside over the inauguration ceremony. Chunghwa Telecom has long been committed to expanding its overseas business, establishing subsidiaries in the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Today, with the formal establishment of its European presence, Chunghwa Telecom has completed its international service network across Europe, America, and Asia. This makes it the only telecom operator in Taiwan with overseas branches and the most comprehensive global network deployment.

The August 26 ceremony was attended by approximately 30 distinguished guests, including Rui-kun Huang, Director of the Taipei Representative Office in Frankfurt; Polly Yu, Director of the Asian Projects Office at Frankfurt Economic Development; Bertram Roth, Vice President of Frankfurt Rhein Main GmbH International Marketing of the Region; Lisa Chiou, Director of the Munich Taiwan Trade Center; as well as representatives of Deutsche Telekom; Taiwanese businesses in Germany, and local strategic partners, all witnessing this historic moment as Chunghwa Telecom established its presence in the EU market.

Chairman Harrison Kuo stated, "Chunghwa Telecom's belief is: 'Wherever Taiwanese businesses go, Chunghwa Telecom will be there for them.' Germany, as one of the most important economic centers in Europe, attracts many Taiwanese enterprises seeking to expand their businesses. Chunghwa Telecom is committed to serving our customers anytime, anywhere." Chairman Kuo also encouraged the European subsidiary to maintain a customer-centric approach, build stronger partnerships in both Germany and the EU, and continuously set new milestones. President Ivan Lin stated, "The establishment of our European subsidiary is a crucial step in Chunghwa Telecom's global expansion. Chunghwa Telecom will work closely with local partners and leverage its abundant resources to meet the needs and provide services to Taiwanese businesses worldwide."

The EU market, comprising 27 member states, presents vast business opportunities and diverse industry developments that continue to attract global enterprises. Germany, the largest economy in the EU, serves as a gateway for multinational companies entering the European market. Chunghwa Telecom, with its expertise and advanced technologies in telecommunications and ICT(Information and communications technology), is well-positioned to support Taiwanese businesses expanding into Europe. The company plans to actively collaborate with European telecom operators, Taiwanese businesses, and ICT players in Germany, while also having ongoing collaboration projects with EXATEL from neighboring Poland. Since 2023, Chunghwa Telecom has begun collaborating with EXATEL, the largest fixed-line telecommunications company in Poland, the largest economy in Eastern Europe. Moving forward, Chunghwa Telecom's European subsidiary will leverage its international network resources and technical expertise in Taiwan's ICT services to provide more comprehensive and timely integrated ICT solutions to Taiwanese businesses and European corporate clients.
