Chunghwa Telecom together with E. Sun Financial Holding Co., Ltd. hold "No Net Loss and No Deforestation Forum"

On November 8th, Chunghwa Telecom and E.Sun Financial Holdings jointly hosted the " No Net Loss and No Deforestation Forum " in Taipei, bringing together influential leaders from government, academia, and industry for in-depth discussions on corporate responsibility and practices in no deforestation and ecological conservation.

This forum delved into global trends in no net deforestation and examined local sustainability practices in Taiwan, aiming to build consensus across Taiwan's government, academia, and industry on the issues of no deforestation and no net loss. Chyi-Rong Chiou, associate professor from the School of Forestry and Resource Conservation at National Taiwan University provided an in-depth analysis in the development, principles, and future trends of international no deforestation initiatives, pinpointing the challenges and importance of global deforestation prevention efforts.

Jiunn-Cheng Lin, chief secretary of the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute, Ministry of Agriculture, focused on no deforestation and sustainable procurement of forest products, elaborating on how forestry policies support and bolster corporations in achieving forest conservation goals.

On the corporate front, Ray Chen, general manager of Chung Hwa Pulp Corporation, shared practical insights from Chung Hwa Pulp’s experience in obtaining certification for no deforestation paper products, demonstrating how businesses can actively meet the market’s high standards for deforestation-free products and contribute to ecological protection. Additionally, Mr. Ru-Kuen Lee, vice president of Chunghwa Telecom, and Mr. Alan Chang, executive vice president of E.SUN Bank, outlined specific measures taken by both companies in implementing no deforestation policies and sustainable actions. These commitments exemplify how businesses can lead and take actions in ESG, setting an industry benchmark and elevating themselves to the global standard for corporate sustainability.
